A day at The Kenwick Park Estate Evergreen Spa mini retreat experience
The day started with a nice welcome drink and a timetable of the day ahead planned for us (which I thought was a nice personal touch), we were then shown around the facilities, before given our robe and slippers to change into. The changing facilities at Kenwick are very clean and as are the rest of the facilities – you can tell the building was recently renovated! When we arrived in the morning it was very quiet it felt like we had the place to ourselves, so I would recommend going in the morning it seemed to pick up a lot by lunchtime.
The salt room sauna was one of the best saunas I have ever tried
Firstly, we went to the thermal spa suite, where you have the use of a foot spa, salt sauna, steam room and a tepadarium along with an ice room. I have to say, the salt room sauna was one of the best saunas I have ever tried and I did spend most of my time in there after using this I found my skin looked amazing and very smooth, the salt sauna also seemed to help my hay fever I could definitely breath better for a few days! I always follow a sauna with an ice room probably because it’s the only time I can handle the cold! seriously though it’s always a good idea as hot temperatures open the pores and cold temperature close the pores.
I have sensitive skin so I didn’t spend as long in the steam room because it seems to bring out my redness but my sisters and mum loved how comfortably hot it was. overall the facilities were to a high standard and although there are less thermal rooms here I could have happily sat in the suite all day!
After this we enjoyed a brunch, where we had a good selection to choose from, although I would highly recommend the omelettes! They gave us more than enough food to fill our appetites for the rest of the day.
Following food, we went to the treatment suite, I was surprised when they managed to book us four all in for treatments at the same time. I went for a 25 minute scalp massage the pros of this: the massage was to a high standard and I definitely felt like I had my treatment time it wasn’t rushed and I did find it relaxing. The cons to this surprisingly they used cold coconut oil when I was expecting Elemis products as its advertised as an Elemis spa when I normally go to an Elemis spa they use frangipani oil in my hair which works amazingly on my dry scalp. I do use coconut oil on my hair at home and I do warm it up, so it didn’t feel like a luxury treatment. The other downside was the oil was cold so when more oil was added I had a shock of cold (being a cold person it didn’t feel nice at all). I have only tried one treatment here so I would like to go again and compare it with my next visit. Overall the treatment area has plenty of staff and it has a beautiful relaxation room to relax in after the treatments are finished which we thoroughly enjoyed as a group.
Tip! Book 8 weeks in advance for 20% off!
Tip! The pool will be out of us during classes, so make sure you check before hand.
Tip! members of kenwick gym and leisure use these facilities aswell it would be worth asking when its quieter as there are limited space in the facilities which could leave you waiting to go in the thermal spa suites.
Although the facilities are very busy at times I would definitely like to go again as the location for me was 5 out of 5 and I really enjoyed the well planned out day they had for us, perfect for bigger groups especially if you are celebrating anything!
